The corn is a’tasseling in Iowa.
So I wandered into a field last week to check it out. Hi!
Most field corn stalks have just one ear per stalk, but this one had two.
Each of those strands of silk can become a kernel of corn.
Pollen from the tassels falls on the silk, and that’s how the kernels get made. Corn sex, if you will.
This corn was taller than I could reach, maybe 7 feet high? How tall am I? Grow, corn, grow!
It sure is pretty. And that’s my corn report, folks.
