Today marks the grand opening of The Pig Adventure at Fair Oaks Farms in northwest Indiana.

National Hog Farmer notes that the new pig center is designed to show visitors firsthand how a modern pig production facility operates and highlights the treatment and well-being of the pigs, the environment and how pork is a safe and nutritious food.

The full-scale sow and finishing hog operation joins a working dairy farm in educating a half million visitors or so each year. It’s high-tech, innovative and sure to entertain, too.

The Pig Adventure makes visiting a hog operation easy, accessible and fun for families. The average American is 2.5 generations removed from a farm, and I think it’s so important for people to have an understanding and appreciation for where our food comes from. Farmers work hard to provide a safe, affordable food supply for the world, and I love how The Pig Adventure celebrates that work.

Congratulations on the grand opening. We can’t wait to visit this fall!
