We’re headed to the Clay County Fair in Iowa this week, and I couldn’t be more excited.  I grew up with a pretty good county fair, complete with a demolition derby and the PRCA Wild Bill Hickock rodeo, along with plenty of snow cones and cowboys.  My hometown fair ran the week before school started, and it was always a fun way to end the summer.

The Clay County Fair claims to be the World’s Greatest County Fair.  Over 300,000 people attend each year, and I can’t wait to see if it lives up to they hype.  Also, I made a list of 33 things I want to accomplish before my 33rd birthday next summer, and going to a fair is on the list.  Many state fairs have sadly come and gone without me this year (I’m looking at you, Iowa & Minnesota), so I’m doubly excited about going to the Clay County Fair.

In preparation, I thought I’d highlight a few extra-yummy “Fair Food” items from around the country to get your mouths watering.  Maybe if I blog about them, I won’t want to eat them all.  Wish me luck.
