I had the opportunity to attend the Ag Chat Foundation’s Cultivate & Connect conference in Austin.  I shared a few thoughts from the opening session over at Rural Housewives earlier this week.

Decisions start with your head, but are ultimately made in your heart. – Thom Singer

I responded with enthusiasm this spring when my high school bestie asked if I wanted to go to the Ag Chat Foundation conference in Austin. I’ve participated in a few Ag Chat twitter events and have met some online industry contacts through the group. I love social media and am always up for an out-of-town conference (plus, Austin!).  Shannon and her husband have some farmland near our hometown, and she works with Common Ground in Kansas, so I knew it would be fun to be able to share this experience with her.

Thom Singer, an Austin local, kicked off the conference with energy, humor, and a reminder of the importance of building relationships.  His tips on personal branding, professional networking, and the power of community were a good start to the conference.  Plus, there was plenty of bacon at breakfast, so you know it was going to be a good day.
