So this is what oats look like. Don’t think I’ve ever seen them up close.
Oats grow best in cool, wet summers, which disqualifies the part of Kansas I grew up in. But there’s a whole lot of oats growin’ here in Manitoba.
And beans! There’s a LOT of beans in Nebraska and Iowa, but we almost didn’t recognize these.
Beans in the midwest are planted with a planter in wide rows, and beans in Manitoba (these at least, and others we saw) are planted with a seeder, so they’re all close together and they don’t have the distinct rows that I’m used to seeing.
